New For 2009
DHS Compliance. Homeland Security Presidential Directive 8 (HSPD-8): "National Preparedness" issued December 17, 2003, tasked the Secretary of Homeland Security to strengthen the preparedness of the United States to prevent and respond to threatened or actual domestic terrorist attacks, major disasters and other emergencies. To support HSPD-8 implementation and the evolution of the Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) Training Strategy, DHS and its training partners have developed the National Planning Scenarios, Target Capabilities List, and the Universal Task List.

As HSPD-8 nears full implementation, the National Law Enforcement CBRNE Training Center and the Department of Homeland Security are currently engaged in an effort to map the CBRNE Center’s training courses to the Target Capabilities List (TCL), the National Planning Scenarios and the Universal Task List. The learning objectives of each of the Center’s training course are being compared to the associated critical tasks and expected performance measures and objectives for each capability listed in the TCL. The results of this effort will strengthen the linkage between strategies, training, exercises and evaluation. The CBRNE Center is also taking the unprecedented step to further link its training course objectives to relevant industry standards which have been promulgated by regulatory organizations and professional associations such as NIOSH, OSHA and NFPA.

New Training Courses.
The new Training Course Catalog for 2009 now includes over a dozen new courses. We’ve introducedthe newDisaster Responder Series as well as the quick and easy CBRNE equipment Operation& Maintenance (O & M), instruction modules.

The Center has also received certification from the US Department of Environmental Protection Agency as an authorized provider of the Emergency Response to Hazardous Material Incidents (165.15), training course

Enhanced Maintenance Services. The Center’s CBRNE TECH™ PPE Maintenance Program continues to expand its capabilities and now includes a complete CBRNE equipment inspection capability with individual operator readiness tracking with E-mail reminders for scheduled operator certification training requirements and equipment maintenance & inspection due dates. The program also provides shelf-life tracking with E-mail reminders at 30-, 60-, and 90- day intervals before expiration dates and expansion of local service center locations and adding to the number of our factory qualified mobile field technicians.

The CBRNE Training Center has been built from the ground up, to understand, confront and ultimately defeat the most lethal CBRNE threats humanity can produce. The core of our mission is to enhance responder capability and confidence and ensure mission completion. The Center’s staff will continue to listen to the needs of all responders and work tirelessly along-side you to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions that answer the call for help.

At the National Law Enforcement CBRNE Training Center we stand ready to assist you in every way possible. We look forward to accomplishing the Homeland Defense mission together and to a high standard. So let us begin.
